Meet Instructor Heather Hamilton!

Heather found yoga after dealing with chronic back pain and looking for an alternative to the traditional gym. She soon fell in love with more than just the workout yoga provides. The deep feeling of relaxation after class and time for self became addictive and triggered a deeper interest in understanding yoga. Heather completed her 200 hour training with Bella Vita in Charlotte, NC. She is a Vinyasa style trained teacher who loves slow flow classes. Heather is also a Holistic Health Coach who helps woman slow down, eat healthy and develop self-care practices. When she is not practicing yoga you can find her walking/hiking, hula hooping, traveling, checking out a band, hanging with family and friends and drawing.

You can catch Heather at Pure Bliss every Friday Morning for a 9:15 Power class and 10:30 Deep Stretch. Heather will also be sharing her self-care and nutritional tips during our upcoming Healthy Habits workshop on January 29th at 12-2. Not only will there be an interactive discussion, but students will also participate in a 1hr yoga practice with a focus on digestion. Each student will receive handouts to take home and refer to. Finding healthy alternatives to the snacks you crave makes it so much easier to make good food choices. Below, Heather shares her recipe for the incredible Black Bean Brownies we all enjoyed at our open house in December!
Heather’s Black Bean Browniesg

1 can (15 oz) black beans rinsed and drained well.

2tbsp cocoa powder ( I usually add a bit more)

1/2 cup gluten free oats

1/4 tsp salt ( usually Celtic)

1/3 cup pure maple syrup

1/4 cup coconut oil melted

2 tsp pure vanilla

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup to 2/3 cups chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 and mix all ingredients in a food processor except the chocolate chips.Mix really well then stir in the chocolate cbips. Pour into a greased 8×8 pan. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Wait for the brownies to cool completely before cutting them.

 I sometimes add protein powder,chia seeds and 1/3 cup almond butter for more protein. These brownies are also good topped with nuts or coconut. Get creative and enjoy!!
